Hey, I’m Davide.
School came easy to me, but I wasn’t really paying attention — smart enough to coast, but not quite switched on enough to care. Sport, especially soccer, was where I poured my energy, not schoolwork. I cruised through high school, landed a decent score and somehow ended up studying engineering at Melbourne Uni. Spoiler: I bombed. A year and a half of engineering later, I realised I had no clue what I was doing there, so I hit pause.
That “gap year” turned into a journey that completely rewired my brain. I worked, travelled and lived for the first time, and somewhere along the way, I stumbled into the world of psychology, philosophy, history and politics. Suddenly, I couldn’t get enough of learning. I tried to transfer into a Bachelor of Arts, but the uni wasn’t having it (shoutout to my terrible grades). So, I stayed in engineering but packed every elective with subjects I actually loved. I crushed those, but they still wouldn’t let me switch. Fine. I took another break to work full-time, then when lockdown hit, I dove headfirst into a Bachelor of Psychology online—and smashed it in 18 months.
What hooked me most about psychology was this mind-bending realisation: we walk around thinking our conscious mind is in control, but it’s usually just along for the ride. The unconscious mind runs the show. It’s fascinating—and frustrating—how often we trip ourselves up, get stuck in negative thought loops, or completely misunderstand our own feelings. I found it incredible that we are us, yet we so often feel separate from our own thoughts and actions. It’s like we’re passengers in our own heads.

I knew I didn’t want to go the traditional route of becoming a clinical psychologist. The rigid frameworks of the Australian psychology system felt too narrow. Instead, I wanted to take everything I’d learned and use it to teach people—both inside and outside the classroom. Teaching lets me break big ideas down, spark curiosity and help others connect the dots in ways they hadn’t thought of before. That’s what really lights me up.
Today, I’ve got a Master’s in Applied Learning and Teaching and I’ve been loving every minute of my teaching career. I also tutor maths and English on the side—a gig I started right after high school, thanks to my maths teacher hooking me up with some clients. It’s something I’ve stuck with because I genuinely enjoy helping students one-on-one.

When I’m not teaching or tutoring, you’ll probably find me fishing, camping, or obsessing over ancient history and prehistory. Seriously, how crazy is it that the pyramids exist? Don’t even get me started on Greek mythology. And then there’s my dog, Rocky—my best mate and partner in crime. He’s taught me more about patience, presence and joy than most humans ever could.
Why This Blog Exists
This blog is where I bring together everything I’ve learned — from psychology to teaching to life experience — and turn it into something practical and useful. Whether you’re trying to manage your thoughts, learn more effectively, or figure out what the heck you’re doing with your life, I’m here to offer tools and insights that actually work — no fluff, no jargon.
It’s also my place to engage with real people — like you. I want to understand what matters to you, what you’re struggling with and what questions you want answered. The more I learn from you, the better I can shape future posts around the things that truly make a difference. So, please comment, message, or reach out — I’d love to hear from you.
